Mick-O-Lantern

Kaylee picked out our pumpkin carving design and I made it happen. No photos of the process as it was just the two of us, but she watched while I carved. I had her stick her hand in the pumpkin when I was scraping out the guts, but she wasn't too interested in helping with that part. She called it messy, watched for a bit then left for bigger and better things (i.e. toys and books). Here are a couple photos of the finished product.

And a couple more fall photos from Sunday...

Getting down to business

Working from home, where every day is casual day...

Pumpkin Farm: Take 2!

This morning we went back to the Kinsey Family Farm with my cousin's wife Margaret and their 15 month old son, Nate. Basically the kiddos ran around a bit, we took a hayride and fed the fish. It was chilly out, but seemed warmer than during our visit last weekend!

So the photo above is a fraud; would you have guessed? I didn't actually get a very good shot with them both looking at the camera, so I combined the two photos below...not too bad of a job... :)

After the farm, we all went to lunch. Here are some cute shots of Nate. Love the one in the middle..."hey, baby, what's your sign?"

Foray into Photography

As I've mentioned, Kaylee loves to get my sunglasses and pose for photos. Yesterday was no different - she takes them, puts them on and says, "more Kaylee cheese!" Then stands around saying cheese for me to take her photo. I did that again yesterday, then took the sunglasses back and she said, "Mommy cheese." So here are the photos of her in the sunglasses, then the ones she took of me (among various other things). She thought it was a riot. :)

Toddler Swearing

I have no idea what it means, but for the past few months Kaylee's been saying, "no kooka" (or however one might spell it?) in a semi-whisper. She usually says it to the cats or me, and it's apparently not nice because if I say it back to her she gets very mad and hits the floor or table or whatever is close. So it's apparently some sort of toddler bad word or something. Of course I find it funny, but I tell her it's not nice to say that and try not to laugh at her. :)

Little Diva!

Kaylee finds it hilarious lately to climb up to the dining room table, grab my sunglasses, put them on then run to show me. Usually I am already hot on her tail, then I grab the camera take a few pictures and take away the sunglasses. Today I pulled out an old pair and put them on the table for her to grab instead of my better ones (none of which are more than $10, so not too worried if she breaks them, though then I'd have to go shopping!). As you can see, she loves posing for photos with them on! And she did put all these on herself - right side up or upside down, she doesn't seem to mind. She stands still long enough to say cheese, then runs over to see the photo, saying, "more DeeDee! More DeeDee!" (DeeDee = Kaylee. She will say "Kay-yee" if asked to sound it out (we're working on the "L" sound), but still refers to herself as DeeDee...)

Eat, Drink & Be Silly

These photos are from Sunday. Kaylee loves eating at the table in non-boostered seats, as you can probably tell from her huge smile. The table photos are from breakfast, before we went to the pumpkin farm (see post below) and the others are from that afternoon/evening at her Great-Grandparents' house.

This last photo cracks me up. She was staring at the fire in their fireplace saying, "hot." We told her not to touch it, because it would burn her and she'd get hurt. So she stood a few feet away, holding out her hand like she is here and making her super-concerned face. Then all of a sudden she'd laugh and run away, then run back and do it again. Silly girl.

***Before you read the next bit, you should know Kaylee still calls the cats "bow" (rhymes with cow); likely because we also call them that now. Okay, on to the story...***

So, speaking of silly, I think Kaylee's started making jokes. Jamie eats hot sauce on his meatloaf and we had it a couple times last week. One morning after we'd had it the night before, Kaylee said, "Daddy hot sauce" (she probably saw it in the fridge when I got her milk and it reminded her). I said, "yes, Daddy had hot sauce on his meatloaf last night." Then she said, "bow hot sauce," and started laughing like it was such a funny idea that the cats would eat hot sauce. Which of course made me laugh, so then she kept saying it and laughing at her "joke." It was pretty funny, but maybe you had to be there... ;)

Pumpkin Patch

Yesterday we took Kaylee to The Kinsey Family Farm. She had a great time with everything - the pumpkins, wagons (pulling and riding), hayride and especially feeding the catfish! The pond water was super muddy from all the recent rain, so we couldn't see the fish until they got to the surface to eat the food pellets. They were huge - I'd say over a foot long, and definitely well-fed. :) Here are some of the photos. My favorite is the first one here - and it was the first one I took at the farm.

Some of the pumpkins were huge - Kaylee kept saying, "heavy!" and trying to pick them up or push them (to no avail). We did not come home with one of these giants, though maybe we should go back for one...when I showed her these pictures she got excited and said, "heavy! More puh-ko!" (puh-ko = pumpkin) :-)
