Rabbits, Pool Time & More

On Tuesday Kaylee and I walked out onto the deck (I was checking to see if it was warm enough to get out her baby pool) and we saw a huge rabbit in the yard. It hopped away right after we saw it, but Kaylee was super excited about it and kept asking (signing) "where" as in, "where is the rabbit?"

About an hour later I filled the pool and she stood in it for a minute, then ran to the railing to look for the rabbit, then looked quizzically back at me and signed, "where?" I told her it was gone and she should get back in the pool. She stepped (or crawled) back into the pool, then immediately got back out to go look for the rabbit again...repeat cycle over and over and over. On Thursday her friends Katie and Olivia played in the pool with her some and Kaylee was still looking for the rabbit...I have a feeling she'll be asking about it for a long time yet...

Yesterday Kaylee and I went to my grandparents' house for lunch and my cousin Stephen, his wife Stephanie and their kids Ethan and Brennan were there, too. I was trying to get a good shot of the two girls, but they weren't cooperating (and Kaylee was annoyed that Brennan was touching her shoes...) After the first photo (of the next 5 below), can you guess who took over the photography?? He actually did really well with the photos of others, but I am also now the proud owner of a lot of crazy-Ethan-face photos!! :) (Yes, he took those of himself!)

Thanks to Kaylee's cousin Elena (rather, Elena's mom Diedre! :) ), I got the idea to dress Kaylee in red, white and blue for the weekend. Coincidentally, I already had her in the denim dress with cherries on it yesterday, and today she wore her new r,w&b star dress and flag hat from Old Navy. The car seat in the photo is the one from Jamie's car, which is currently on the floor of our den (the car seat, not Jamie's car). Kaylee thinks it's fun to crawl into it and sit there...hmm. Okay.

"Umm, how do I put this thing on, Mama?"

"Never mind, I give up. Easier to just chew on it!"

More teeth!

After further exploration this evening, I found Kaylee does have another molar that's just barely broken through, on the top left side. So her top two "first molars" are both on their way. I just googled "baby teeth" and found this image with an approximate timeline for getting/losing baby teeth.

Interestingly enough, I still have my baby teeth first molars on top...and, yes, I am a bit older than 9-11 years. Apparently I never had any permanent teeth to push those two out, so now I am in the position that at any time the (barely there, as I'm constantly reminded by dentists) roots could lose their tenuous grip and I'll be stuck having to dole out some serious $$$. I remember about 10-11 years ago my dentist told me that if I was lucky, I had maybe another 10 years before the baby molars fell out. Great. Just as Kaylee's getting her first molars, I may finally be losing mine. I hope not, though!!

Today

Kaylee has a molar coming through - or maybe more than one? It feels like one on the top right has just broken through, but she bites too hard for me to do much more exploring than that. :)

Surprisingly enough, this is not the hat that came with the dress she's wearing. I know you might have been fooled otherwise, since the blues coordinate so well.

Kaylee, shown below in her two speeds...stop and GO GO GO! (She was running through the house and I hid around a corner to get the action shot.)

Hmm, I wonder what this does? Aaahhhhhh!!

Good dental hygiene habits start early! She loves brushing her teeth.

Mama & Dada are home & 2 new cousins!

After a whirlwind trip to Spain, Jamie and I have returned. We left Thursday, arrived in Barcelona at 9am Friday (3am Atlanta time, yaaaawwn...) and arrived back home at 3:45pm on Tuesday, just in time to get Kaylee up from her nap. She was very happy to see us, as we were her!!!

Kaylee stayed at home while we were away. Grampa and Gramma (my parents) stayed with her for a few days, then Grandma Barb took over until we got home. Kaylee had a great time with all of them, and I'm pretty sure they all enjoyed her just as much. :) Grampa took some pictures, since we were unavailable to do so. Here are a few...

In other news, Kaylee has 2 new cousins!

My brother Michael's baby girl Lillian was born yesterday while Jamie and I were on our return flight. We haven't been able to visit them yet, but hopefully can find some time this weekend or shortly thereafter.
