3 months today-ack!

Wow - so Kaylee is 3 months old today. Where has the time gone? It was almost a year ago we found out I was pregnant and now here we are with this rapidly growing little girl! Since we're out of the "4th Trimester" as I've heard the first 3 months of life referred to, I suppose she's no longer a "newborn." She's sure acting more like a little person with more personality than a little baby these days, that's for sure!

Here are a few pictures I took this morning to commemorate her 3 month mark...her dress was a gift from her "Auntie" Cheriene!

So advanced...

Here's Kaylee, deep in concentration enjoying her Winnie the Pooh book. Not quite 3 months and reading at the 4th grade level!!
;-)

Happy to be done reading for a bit!

Cute photo

Cute photo from this morning. I love the onesie (click on photo to enlarge & read)...she showed it to her daddy, who said "I've learned not to answer such questions!" Smart man!

Hard to believe she'll be 3 months old in a week - where has the time gone??

Hmm...rolling?

Quick update:

"Tummy time" - for those who don't know - is any time that an infant with a still-bobbly head is sitting, lying or being held in such as way as to strengthen their neck muscles. This morning I put Kaylee on her stomach for tummy time, a position that she usually complains about. No different this morning, except that she rolled herself onto her back after a short time (a minute or so)! I thought maybe I hadn't put both arms out far enough, like maybe one was tucked under her and made it easy to roll accidentally. So I put her back on her stomach, this time definitely with both arms way out to the sides and after a minute, she pulled one in and rolled over again! I held her for a couple minutes until she was happy again (did I mention she doesn't like on-her-tummy tummy time?), and put her back down to see if she would do it again, but by that time she was pretty much just mad and just put her head down and cried, so I let her off the hook. But we'll be trying again. :-)

Kaylee's ENT Appointment

Thanks to everyone for your continued thoughts and prayers regarding Kaylee's ear/hearing. We saw the ENT this afternoon and he said yes, her right ear looks fine, but the left has some fluid behind the eardrum. He prescribed some antibiotics for us to give her for a couple weeks, then we go back to see him again on July 9 for a recheck, so we won't know if the antibiotics worked until then! Please pray that the antibiotics help and the fluid drains on its own, as the next step would be for her to get a tube in her ear to drain it, and I've heard from others that it's not something you want to deal with if possible. Thank you!

For the Grandparents (& whoever else)

The first photo is Kaylee with her great-grandfather a few days ago, and the other is her waking up and breaking out of her swaddle after I got her out of her crib from a nap. She talks to us more and more these days. She has LOTS to say!

Weekend pics

Just a few photos from this past weekend - in the first her 4.5 year old cousin Weston (one of my cousin Brian's sons) is holding her, and the other two are from Sunday. Her outfit's saying was her motto for the day!!!

Mirror, Mirror, on the Wall

Kaylee recently started smiling and laughing at her reflection in the mirror; so cute!!

Impressionist

As you can see, Kaylee is already doing impressions - at the tender age of 10 weeks. (Not sure why that photo made me think of W, but I looked up photos of him...lo and behold...)

Sweet Baby Love

These photos are from after last night's bath - Jamie wasn't here for it, and when I showed him the photos, he said (of the first) - "that's classic Kaylee" (her wide-eyed expression). Is she old enough to have a "classic" anything? ;-)

So how is it possible to love someone so much? The smallest things she does make my heart melt - like last night when I was giving her a bath, she was talking and smiling and I couldn't finish singing her the rubber ducky song for a few minutes because I got choked up (luckily ducky squeaks, so he filled in for a bit). Just her sweet smell and the tiniest smiles make all the sleepless nights so worth it.

In other news, Kaylee is excited to have a baby girl cousin arriving this fall!! My cousin Stephen and his wife Stephanie found out last week that they'll be adding baby girl Brennan to the mix - their son Ethan is 3 1/2, and he's going to be a great big brother - my guess is he'll help Stephen with any potential future boyfriend issues with Brennan. :-) Another cousin (Jonathan & wife Elisha) are expecting a baby in late November (their son Caleb is 1 1/2), but the gender will be a surprise until he/she arrives! (Wow - the patience...) I also have a cousin (Brandon & wife Margaret) on my father's side expecting a baby boy in late July. Lots of family babies this year, Kaylee's happy to have lots more playmates arriving soon.
