Funny Girl

Rolling around all over her toys (how can one kid make such a mess???). She actually slipped on those scattered cards, but we laughed at the way she fell and rolled around and then she kept doing it to keep us laughing. What a character!

Second First Birthday Party

Kaylee's second 1st birthday party went well. It was raining, so we didn't put her big inflatable cake in the yard, but otherwise it was fun. :-D

These were round two of the cakes I made. Not bad, if I do say so myself! Pretty tasty, too. Kaylee smashed the cake more at last weekend's party, probably because there weren't as many people staring at her while she did it. But she didn't cry, so that was a definite positive! She actually was pretty happy about the entire time at the party, so yay for that!! Never know how kids will do in a crowd...

After cake, before gifts...playing with her "iPod" (little music player that she's holding in these pics)

Time for presents!!

(Last pic above she opened her new piggy bank toy and was snorting like a pig)

Playing with her new loot. Check out the new Ferrari...

HAPPY 1ST BIRTHDAY, KAYLEE!!

Happy birthday to you!
Happy birthday to you!
Happy birthday, dear Kaylee!
Happy birthday to you!!!

I can't believe my baby girl is ONE!! Time has flown and she's gotten so big, but she's still my little baby girl! Even when she doesn't want to be! :-D

We love you, Kaylee!!!

Piggy, Puffs, Bbrrrr

Not only does Kaylee make her "evil baby" face when asked, but she can snort like a pig! Very cute. We say, "can you snort like a pig?" and she does!!

She's been saying "puffs" for a while now (little Gerber finger foods. She used to refer to them as "puh" - just the letter P sound, but now says "Puh-ssshh" or "Puh-fffsssshhh" depending on the time).

I'd been making "car noises" when she'd play with her little car (from my cousin's 2 year old son's "Cars" birthday party!), but she never did it herself until one day recently, sort of out of the blue she picked up the car and started driving it around while she made that noise! She makes that little car drive around everywhere...leaving a trail of spit wherever it goes. :-)

In other news, she now has 7 teeth! The one next to her bottom middle right broke through today and it feels like the opposite one could be coming in, but it's definitely not through just yet.

T-minus 13.5 hours until Kaylee is ONE! (She was born at 11am...)

First First Birthday Party (no typo)

Today was Kaylee's first (of two) first birthday party! Here are some of the photos...her big/main party is next weekend, so more cake smashing to come!!

Thought her 6 foot inflatable birthday cake was super-fun! She pushed it halfway across the yard.

See how pretty the cakes were before??
All that work...and for what... ;-)

Time for presents!! She LOOOOOOVES books and got a ton. We're gonna have to buy her a special bookshelf now, for sure! (If not two?!??)

Happy early birthday, baby girl!! We love you!!

1 year portraits

We went to Portrait Innovations today to get a family photo and some 1 year/Spring/Easter pix of Kaylee - we didn't have all these printed, but got the CD of all pix to share online! Here are our faves...

Spaghetti Monger

Kaylee LOVES her Poppy's homemade spaghetti recipe. She probably ate more of it for lunch today than I did!! Here are some pix...

Also, Kaylee is DONE WITH BOTTLES. She has not had one since Monday morning. I don't think she really likes having her formula/milk in the sippy cup as well, but I'm tired of washing all the bottle parts and figure it'll either be a battle now or later. She drinks juice and water just fine out of the cups, just doesn't like having her milk that way. Oh, well!! We also just started (last week) the process of switching her to whole milk. Slowly! But she's doing well with it so far - no reactions; we just give her an ounce or two mixed in with mostly formula. (In case you were wondering, I do know this is not part of the switching to cup issue - she would drink cold straight milk or cold formula/milk from a bottle no prob, it's just that she wants the milk in a bottle, not cup.) But she's doing well with it anyway, just drinks it slower than she did when she'd just suck down the bottle in 5 minutes.

Dunno what else to report...we had 3 kids over today and Kaylee had a blast playing with them (boys ages 3 and 5 and a 9 year old girl -- I think on the ages??) I should pay her to babysit, she entertained them the whole time she was awake!!

I can't believe her birthday is in a week!!!!!! Where did the year go?!?
