Kaylee is 100!

Kaylee is 100 weeks old today! I wouldn't have realized this except that I get a weekly email that *still* tells me her age in weeks (I think I stopped counting her age in weeks by 3 months, if not earlier?). Anyway, I thought it was funny.

30 days from now she will be TWO!! Wow.

Just Horsing Around

Kaylee is certainly enjoying her new horse, whom she named Neigh-Neigh. She lays her head on its head and says, "I love you, Neigh-Neigh." (That's what she's doing in the 2nd photo below.)

Yesterday after church she wanted me to take more photos of her on the horse like I had done on Saturday, so I took some of her smiling (or smiling-ish). She even tried to recreate the wide open mouth photo - all her doing, I might add. She remembered the one from Saturday (see photo in the previous post) and said, "see picture Kaylee like this" (meaning she wanted to see the picture of herself like that on the camera screen) and she opened her mouth wide again. Then she threw her head back and said, "see picture Kaylee like this, too!"

Hopefully she'll continue to enjoy it and we'll get our money's worth out of it.

Happy (way early) birthday!

Kaylee got her "big" birthday gifts from us already - yes, a month early. We got the table/chair set on sale yesterday, but wanted to make sure nothing was broken so we went ahead and put it together and decided to just go ahead and let her use it. She's not going to know the difference and she gets more use out of it this way. We bought the spring horse secondhand from someone today. It was already put together, but unless we kept it in our storage room (which is currently pretty full), there wasn't really any place to put it to hide it from her for a month, so we just let her have it already, too. We have a couple little things for her as well, so she can open those on her birthday.

Here she is enjoying lunch at her new table. She's also done some coloring and play-doh playing there, too.

Back story on the horse: Kaylee and I were at a consignment store last fall and there was one there that I put her on while I was shopping. She loved it, but I didn't buy it then. She talked about it for a while after so then I thought I should have just bought it then. Oh, well. I was searching around to see if anyone had a used table/chair set in good shape that we could get instead of the new one, but the ones I found weren't much cheaper than buying the set we got new since it was on sale, so we got the new one. In my searching, however, I found someone selling this horse, so we got it at a good price. The newer ones that I've found for sale now (online, haven't seen any in stores) are between $100-200, have a lot of fabric and some make neighing sounds - I figured the hard plastic like we got would be much easier to keep clean than fabric (I did a very thorough 45 minute Lysol wipe cleaning of the horse when I got it home!) and I knew we didn't need yet another toy that made noise (i.e. another thing to keep pumping batteries into). So I was happy to find a hard plastic model at a great price!

Hmm, you think she enjoys the horse?

Curls!

Kaylee's hair seems to be getting curlier lately. It's funny, because when she wakes in the morning her hair is usually somewhat flat, sometimes with a little wave here and there. After her nap she wakes up and it's much curlier - weird! When we towel dry it after her bath, it's at its most curly (photos are from just after last night's bath). Hard to get a good picture of it since she's usually running around or acting crazy, so these are the best I could get.

New Sheets

Kaylee's been using a pillow and covers in her crib for a while now, but the pillow was a decorative one, not really meant for sleeping on and the covers were just two baby blankets we'd put on her. The blankets must be getting smaller and smaller, as the bigger one barely covers the length of her anymore - the smaller one never did, but she wanted it on top, too - or maybe she's just growing up too fast?? Yesterday I bought a toddler pillow and a twin sheet set and chopped and sewed the sheets to fit the crib mattress. I made two pillowcases and two flat sheets to use with the fitted sheets we already have for the crib.

The quilt is a special one that Memaw (her Great-Grandmother) made for her first great-granddaughter. There hadn't been a girl born in the family in 30+ years, then Kaylee earned the quilt by only 6 months! She's enjoyed it since birth, but this is the first it's been in her crib. Memaw will be so happy!

Sometimes when Kaylee would wake up in the mornings or from nap, she'd say, "need more covers! Need covers!" We've tried to show her how to cover herself, but she only wants us to do it - so hopefully with a tucked in flat sheet and quilt, she won't kick the covers off as much and thus won't complain about them being off.

Tonight before bed I put her in to take a picture; here she is showing off her new bed set, and showing how she'll look while sleeping (she's only pretending to be asleep!).

Happy Valentine's Day!

I tried to get Kaylee to pose for some photos in her Valentine's Dress (you might remember it was a Christmas Dress, too)...well, pose she did! I got one good smile shot:

Then she went into crazy pose mode...yes, these were how she posed!! After each one, she'd run and look at the image on the camera, then run back and pose again.

The one on the left (below) made her Daddy so proud...

Happy Valentine's Day!!

3" of Snow!

We got quite a big snow for GA yesterday afternoon/evening. It topped out at our house around 3 inches. We took Kaylee out to play a couple times yesterday and again this morning! At first she was hesitant to step in the snow and only wanted to walk on the sidewalk and driveway, but she got over that pretty quickly and enjoyed running through the snow. She helped us build the little snowbabies on the steps, and insisted that the bigger one have hair - she kept bringing me more and more pieces of mulch to add. This morning we built the bigger snowman and Kaylee named him Snowman. She has quite the imagination. ;) She was also calling him Frosty, though. Some of our neighbors were out with their kids, of course, and Kaylee had fun playing with them.

Mmm, Dessert!

Monday night after she ate her dinner and an orange, Kaylee said she was still hungry. I asked what she wanted for dessert - I had green beans with my dinner and Kaylee had eaten a few of mine, and she said she wanted green beans! So I warmed up some more for her and she ate every one, then drank the "bean juice" - the few drops of buttery water in the bottom of the bowl. Glad she loves her veggies! The beans were canned ones from my grandmother - Kaylee was calling them "Memaw beans." :)

Best Friends

Erin (2.5 years) is over today and while she and Kaylee (22 months) were eating lunch she said, "you best friend Kaylee," and Kaylee replied, "you best friend Erin." Aww, how sweet. After lunch they were playing with stuffed Tigger & Pooh toys and I heard, "oh, no! I'm stuck! Help me, Tigger! Help me, Tigger!" Then, "okay, here you go, Pooh," "thank you, Tigger" and "no get stuck more, Pooh." (Pooh was getting "stuck" behind the gate blocking the stairs.) I told Jamie and he said it sounded like they were acting out their own episode of "My Friends Tigger & Pooh" - where someone gets into some sort of trouble, but it's all resolved in the end. :)
