Sticky Hair & Pillows

Kaylee was eating her dinner (avocado and banana...a winning combo :) ) and I was eating an apple the other day. So of course she wanted it. I peeled and cored one for her and she loved taking bites...and rubbing it in her hair. By the way, she ate over 2/3 of the banana (all but a bad spot I broke off), 1/2 an avocado and a little less than 1/2 of the apple, plus her milk, Apparently she was hungry!

Kaylee likes to pull the pillows off the couch (or floor, where they usually are these days) and lie and roll around on them, usually one at a time. So I put 3 together and she had fun lying and rolling across them all together - 2nd photo is an action shot mid-roll. :)

Random pix from past week

While it may look like she's practicing her skills on the harmonica in the first photo, she's actually eating a (peeled) plum (last Monday). She loved it until she bit into the pit and made a weird "ouch!" face and whined. I took out the pit and she happily finished eating it.

Doing her best Elton John (borrowing Erin's shades to do so...)

Having fun with tissue paper...

These are from Saturday, after a fun afternoon at the park with little Nate. They both had a blast, can't you tell? This was right before we left...should have taken their photo when we arrived...oops. They were both worn out, and Kaylee was mad we'd taken her out of the swing!

Happy Easter, part deux

Happy Easter! Again!

Kaylee enjoyed her Easter baskets - eggs, books, candy and stuffed animals! The lamb in the first few photos was mine, but I found it for Kaylee. She enjoyed toting it around some today. Her stuffed animal basket is super-overflowing now; we're going to have to find a new place for some of them soon...

Happy Easter!

This is what Jamie found when he went to get Kaylee this morning. Why is it that sleeping kids are so cute???

Kaylee had a busy day - neighborhood egg hunt this morning, then a visit with the Easter Bunny this afternoon.

There were about 30 kids at the egg hunt! It was fun, but I think Kaylee enjoyed the people watching, juice and cookies more than the hunting...

Hanging with the big boys...Shaun, Hunter, Mason...Kaylee is apparently playing footsie with Mason!

Kaylee could not get enough of the Easter Bunny, and kept running back over to see him. She got very upset when we picked her up to walk to Barnes & Noble. Once there, of course, she was happy to run around the kids' section at the bookstore and we read a couple books.

Hail Caesar?

So it's calmed down now (for the time being, at least), but a few minutes ago a storm was raging - thunder, lightning, hail, tornado siren going off; the works! Kaylee is in bed and miraculously slept through it, but I could hear it pounding the windows over the baby monitor! Sounded like the windows were about to get beat in. These are a couple pictures of the aftermath...I had never actually seen golf ball sized hail before...

And since it is Kaylee's blog, here's another aftermath photo. :-D She loves her some Caesar family spaghetti!!

Crazy Driver!

I just realized that a year ago today we took Kaylee to the pediatrician for her 2 week checkup...big changes in a year!!

Kaylee enjoying her frozen waffle breakfast this morning...I made one for her and one for me and she ended up eating both!

All dressed up with no place to go!! We did go to Kindermusik and on a couple walks (one in her Ferrari, below, and another in the stroller later), but didn't have a reason to dress up fancy other than she has tons of dresses and we might as well use them! This one has the little sweater, so that's partly why she's in it today, since it was probably a little cool out for her otherwise (though an awesome day, especially compared to the two freezing ones before it!).

1 year checkup

Kaylee's 12 month pediatrician visit was today. She now weighs 22.5 lbs (71st %) and is 31.5" tall (98th %). I knew she was tall, as she's outgrowing all her onesies and pants in length, but wow! She was 21 lbs at her 9 month appointment - I guess all the walking and crawling really burns calories if she's only gained 1.5 lbs since then, and it's definitely not for lack of eating. There are very few things she won't eat (though she does have preferences for some over others, even of things she will eat, but don't we all??), and luckily she hasn't shown any signs of allergy to anything!! The doc said basically at this point, we're good to let her try anything (non-choking hazard foods, of course, she meant allergy-wise). Wooo!

Her doctor was impressed that she already says so many words (she even called two nurses in to hear Kaylee say "puffs" :-) ) and is signing so many words so well, too. She said usually around 18 months toddlers can point out most body parts, but she wouldn't be surprised if Kaylee's doing that sooner. Umm...she already knows feet and I think nose; maybe more? Are we teaching her things too well?!?? ;-) She is one smart little biscuit...

Erin and Kaylee - milk break!
(from Tuesday)

My grandmother made this little red outfit for Kaylee! (Also has bloomers, but we tried it on over her other outfit today...hence the polka dot pants and top - what she's wearing in the top photos here). So cute!!! It'll be great for the summer!
